The perfect vacuum is the reference

Absolute pressure measurement determines the pressure difference to the ideal or the absolute vacuum (empty space).
The measured value refers accordingly to the vacuum. Absolute pressure measurements are therefore mostly used in
closed systems without consideration of air pressure.
